Performing Arts - ACS Hillingdon

Performing Arts

The performing arts programme at ACS Hillingdon places significant emphasis on engaging students through a rigorous and challenging curriculum in music, film, and drama. These disciplines enrich the school curriculum by fostering teamwork, presentation skills in various contexts, refining performance techniques, analysing and evaluating work, and cultivating independent thinking.

Performing arts thrive at ACS Hillingdon with a variety of productions staged throughout the year, including productions like Footloose, Grease, Shrek, Romeo & Juliet, Beauty & the Beast, Hairspray, and Wizard of Oz. Additionally, our students participate in ISTA (the International School Theatre Association) festivals across Europe.

Music holds equal importance with activities such as after-school rock band clubs, jazz bands, and choirs.

Film at Hillingdon

Our film programme enables students to develop their skills based on key artistic influences from around the world. Students are given the opportunity to create film in a variety of genres and styles, using industry standard film technologies and software.

As part of the IB Careers-related Programme (IBCP), ACS Hillingdon has established a unique partnership with Pinewood Studios, located near the school. This collaboration offers career-related internships focusing on creative skills such as makeup and prosthetics in film production. Students in the IBCP develop skills highly valued by employers and gain valuable real-life work experience.

Students enrolled in film courses as part of the IBCP can also select film-related themes for their reflective projects, such as the Environmental Impact of Film Locations or Body Image in Films (Unrealistic Expectations).
